New Mexico Panoramic Photography

The western US is so big that it's often a shame to confine it to one snap of the camera's shutter, but panoramic cameras have always seemed too specialized to me (sour grapes), and out of my budget anyway.

I played around with "stitching" panoramic photos together on the computer years ago, using scans from 35mm film, but manually blending captures into one photo proved to be too much for me. Imagine my recent delight to find stitching software built right into the latest versions of Photoshop.

So here are my first efforts. Some of them are really wide, six or more pieces, like the Los Alamos and White Rock paroramas. At the other extreme, the Ah-shi-sle-pah Badlands panorama is made up of parts of only two individual photos.

More to come in 2009, as I get better at using the tripod!
