Edward James Stratton was the son of Edward Mitchell Stratton (July 1883 to March 1947) and Nora E. Mogan (June 1886 to February 1956), who were married on September 26, 1906.

Edward had seven siblings: older sister Liota Catherine (September 1907 to August 1971) and younger brothers and sisters Kermit John (December 1909 to January 1910), Marian Elizabeth (born June 1913), Richard Charles (September 1914 to May 1996), Robert Michael (September 1922 to March 1988), John Joseph (born January 1925) and Jean Marie (May 1927 to January 1998).

Irene Ernestina Fragale was the daughter of Michael E. Fragale (August 16,1883 to June 2, 1960) and Emma Marie Leisner (January 26, 1890 to 1982).

Irene had two younger sisters: Harriet Bertha (February 4, 1911 to February 1984) and Margaret Regina (November 2, 1916 to June 13, 1986)
